I’m Back / in love with my faith

Posted by on November 22, 2014

Hey y’all! Okay, so I’m actually going to write at least once every week. Promise. I already told Jesus, so He’s gonna make sure I get this done. 🙂

Basically, I kinda kicked blogging to the curb in favor of Summer with family (cousins!) and friends, in addition to the amazing, month-and-a-half roadtrip that my family took in September. Once I get around to sorting the pictures, I’ll do a couple of slideshows and post them on YouTube. So now that I’m 7 weeks removed from the start of school (!), I can slip this right into my routine (hopefully :)). Now that that’s out of the way, let’s get to the meat of this post.

For my high school religion (I’m a freshman – it’s still weird to say that), I will be using the Didache (pronounced ‘did-ih-kay) Series by Ignatius Press. I’ll try to do something on it later, but for know, just know that its a really great resource and has tons of interesting stuff in it that I never knew before (not a really good summary, but oh well). This year I will be doing the “Introduction to Catholicism” textbook, which is waaaay more than an introduction.

Last week, while reading about Jesus’ public ministry, I learned this gem of a fact: In the Old Testament, all Kings of Israel were anointed by a Levite, since they were the tribe of priests. John the Baptist was a Levite (remember how Zechariah was a priest and was at the temple when the angel told him that he would have a son?), so when he baptized Jesus, he was effectively anointing the new King! Totally amazing, right?

I suspect that I will come across more of these new facts as I continue to go through “Introduction to Catholicism,” so I’ll have more stuff to right about!

Sorry if I’m a little rusty – I’ll get better as time progresses.

Drop a note and let me know what you think of my rediscovery of blogging or this little tidbit.
